Mr. Ydde,
I would like to borrow your own words and start by stating, "...that IĈm not attempting to be insulting here, though my opinion of the Gallente is not high, I am honestly trying to be neutral in my tone."
I think that your confusion stems from the differences in our systems of government and the recent changes that have been brought about by Mr.Heth, in the Caldari system.
The Gallente form of government is a Democracy, as you know. This is a form of government where the most popular person, not necessarily the most capable are placed in power.
The Caldari form of Government was a Meritocracy, which is the rule of those that are most competent. Unfortunately, until Mr.Heth, most of the Corporations had degenerated into Plutocratic or Oligarchic institutions, rife with cronyism and nepotism. Needless to say this is contrary to everything the Caldari had previously stood for. Since Mr.Heth's arrival, the Caldari State has returned to its tradition system and those who are capable are once again allowed to rise as far as their talents will take them.
It would seem to me that there is also a difference of basic philosophy between our peoples. The Gallente subscribe to a philosophy of Individualism or Ethical Egoism, where the focus of the society is toward the good of the individual. The Caldari philosophy tends to fall more in the area of Enlightened Self Interest and Utilitarianism, where the focus of the society is to bring the most good to the most people and by serving the group we in turn serve our own self interest.
Now, before Tibus Heth, the leadership of many of the corporations tended toward a more Individualistic outlook. They had forgotten about those below them, looking out for themselves. With Mr.Heth we are once again coming back to the view that by contributing to our society, we in turn help ourselves.
You, and probably many Gallente see this as "a climate where individual thoughts are frowned upon and questioning of authority is discouraged." This is statement that would have been more appropriate several months ago, under the rule of the old leadership, but it is now untrue. In fact in our society, if you have a better idea, or are more capable than those in power, you are encouraged to act. However, unlike the Federation, the State does not suffer fools. If you claim you can 'do it better', you are expected to 'do it better' in the State. In the Federation, all you really need to do is look good for Scope and you can be the next President.
Finally, you spoke about events being 'contrived and manipulated' and how we have 'traded one group of tyrants for another'. This seems to be your main point. Although, you don't seem to have any proof that anything you say is true, lets go on the assumption that your claims have some merit and aren't just wild conspiracy theories. I would say that the Caldari people are better off now than they were previously. The economy is much improved under Heth. Moral is higher in the general populous. Citizens can now excel where they couldn't before. Worker riots were common place before, and have since dropped off significantly due mainly to changes in benefits, education and wealth distrubution, installed by Tibus Heth. Lets follow your 'theory' down a little different path. The events that initiated this entire situation were initiated by a certain Gallente Admiral's attack on a Caldari station, during peace talks, which killed one of the few respectable CEO's left in the State. Who has gained from this? I would say 2 men have gained most directly. One, of them is Tibus Heth. The other is President Souro Foiritan. If we apply your own logic, we can see that the Gallente president has received increased powers, resurrected a mostly mothballed military, removed or insolated rivals, and has degraded Gallente freedoms which increases his control over you.
Perhaps we are gullible, but no more than you.
